The phrase “would like” is used to express a polite desire or wish. It’s often used when making requests, invitations or when offering things to people. It’s a more formal and polite way of saying “want”. The structure is usually subject + would like + (noun phrase OR infinitive verb). The subject and would are often contracted. For example:

The negative form is “would not like”, often contracted as “wouldn’t like”. However, the meaning can become hypothetical. For example:
At present, I wouldn’t like to be in that boy‘s shoes.

The phrase “you wouldn’t like it” is typically used to express that something is unpleasant, disturbing, or otherwise undesirable, in the above example it appears in the unreal conditional. The future conditional = If I tell you, you won’t like it.
